An end-of-year gift for a teacher — a song from the whole class

Every June the parents' group chat wakes up with the same message: “What shall we get the teacher?”. Then come suggestions for a bouquet, a vase, a cosmetics voucher and a long debate about the amount. In the end the teacher gets a lovely bouquet — and another vase.

Yet some people deserve more than a vase. The teacher who taught your children to read. The form tutor who stayed after lessons when someone needed it. The coach who believed in the team when nobody else did.

Why a song from the class

  • it's from everyone — every child and every parent can add a memory;
  • it says exactly what they did — not “thank you for everything”, but for that day, that lesson, that talk;
  • it stays — teachers keep gifts like this for years and play them to the next classes.

How to gather the memories

The easiest way is for parents to ask their children at home and write a sentence or two in a shared document:

  • what they remember most from the lessons;
  • a funny moment from a trip, a school show or break time;
  • what the teacher says to them when they're sad or doing well;
  • what they want to tell the teacher now, at the end of the year.

Then one person places the order and puts it all in the form. You can tell us about the teacher too: what they're like, what they love, what makes them different.

Good moments

  • the end of the school year (and 24 May, the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture);
  • finishing 4th or 7th grade, prom, graduation;
  • a teacher's retirement — see also a song for retirement;
  • a doctor, a coach, a mentor — gratitude isn't only for school.

A song or a poem?

A song is for playing at the ceremony — sometimes the class sings along. A poem is for a frame, a photo book or for one child to read aloud. Both are written from your memories.

Timing

The end of the year is a busy time — order at least a few weeks ahead. The usual delivery time is on the occasion's page; if the ceremony is getting close, put the date in your order.

A good teacher is remembered for a lifetime. It's lovely when they get to hear it.

Frequently asked questions

Who orders if the gift is from the whole class?

One parent fills in the form with everyone's memories. We stay in touch with that person.

Can the children sing it at the ceremony?

Yes — write it in “Music wishes” and we'll make it easy to sing along to.

Does it suit a coach or a doctor?

Yes. The “To say thank you” occasion is for anyone who has changed something for you.
