The Story Behind the Song
“I Wouldn't Pay” started as a short, almost playful phrase that gradually turned into a full song.
The idea is simple — there are things you simply wouldn't pay money for. Even if you had the money. And if you don't have it, the answer is even easier: you still wouldn't give it away.
The song is built around this repeated refusal and turns it into a rhythmic Afro House hook. The male vocal carries the main phrase, while the female Afro choir adds “Eh-oh”, “Ayo”, “Mama eh” and other vocal chants that give the track its African club character.
